Lyman Lake provides 350 acres of recreational opportunity on the Middle Tyger River in Spartanburg County, SC. Boating and fishing are permitted, although an annual permit* is required from the SJWD** Water District. Boat ramps and docks are provided and maintained by the SJWD. Lake access hours are posted at each of these sites.

Lyman Lake is a vital source of clean drinking water for residents of the SJWD Water District. Therefore, policies are in place to preserve the integrity of this natural resource. Below is a partial list of the for enjoying recreational activities at Lyman Lake:

Water skiing is allowed during daylight hours only. Skiers should take caution of hazardous areas and ski at their own risk.
Jet skis are prohibited at Lyman Lake.
Firearms are prohibited, including BB guns, air guns, longbows, cross bows, dart guns, and slingshots.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the lake.
Pets must be leashed and under control.
Picnicking and cooking of foodstuffs is allowed only in the designated areas.
Vehicles are restricted to paved areas. Dirt bikes, dune buggies, 3- and 4-wheelers, all-terrain vehicles, and vehicles that are not street legal are prohibited at Lyman Lake.
Disturbing or hunting wildlife, waterfowl and/or other species of animals is prohibited, and violators will be prosecuted.
